Transit of Mercury on 9th May 2016 from Pakistan

There was a rare event on 9th May 2016 on hot sunny Monday around 4pm. The planet mercury passed between us and we saw the silhouette of the planet using specialized telescopes and projection method at the urban observatory of Karachi named as Kastrodome.

A transit of Mercury across the Sun takes place when the planet Mercury passes directly between the Sun and a superior planet, becoming visible against (and hence obscuring a small portion of) the solar disk.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When will be next transit?

Next will be on 11th Nov 2019 but it won’t will be for very short interval of time as the Sun will set during the transit. The best one again is going to happen on 13th Nov 2032.
