Apple iPhone battery shutdown – How I solved it
Apple’s iPhone battery issue is being circulated on social media, forums and tech blogs but there is no proper solution proposed by anyone even Apple hasn’t fully taken responsibility. The issue started when iOS 10.1 was launched. iPhone 5s, 6 and 6s were the most affected phones including new ones as well as two years old sets. Apple even launched Battery replacement program for iPhone 6s. But you can’t have that offer on older sets like iPhone 5s.
The problem
During mid Nov 2016, my 1.5 years old used iPhone 5s started to give me shutdown problems. The problem started when I updated to iOS 10.1 after delaying it for like 2 weeks. I had a feeling that something bad is going to happen as the previous update had notifications area changed entirely and I didn’t like it.
33% battery shutdown
The first time shutdown happened was when the batter reached at 33%. I thought I had mistaken the percentage. So I put the phone on Charge with my original iPhone charger and cable (bought from Apple Store) and surprisingly the phone started just within 5 seconds and it was showing 35% battery.
I posted on Facebook group. Almost everyone said that my phone battery is dead. I replied them that it can’t happen in just one day and that after the update. I told them that I fear that with next update it will shutdown on 43% and then on 53% and so on.
44% battery shutdown… heart attack 1
And yes.. This is what happened. Just after 5 days, even without updating, what I fear happened. My phone started to shutdown. I still was getting replies that I should get iPhone battery changed. I didn’t got it changed as I knew its a software issue that came with iOS update.
53% battery shutdown… heart attack 2
And then the nightmare. Just after a week, my phone started to shutdown at 53% battery. I started searching for Android phones as I concluded that Apple iPhone is not reliable anymore.
Throw the iPhone away
I was about to throw the phone when I thought I should reset my phone to factory settings. Tried it. Restored from iTunes. Didn’t work. I also tried hard reset and then restored from iTunes. Still no luck. The problem stayed on 53% battery shutdown.
How it got solved?
I started charging my phone for one hour even after 100% daily. I tried this technique for straight 3 days.
Suddenly, after 3 to 4 days when I bought a brand new Xiaomi Powerbank for my iPhone 5s, I found that the battery percentage went down to 1%.
So for those who were saying that it is my phone’s battery issue, they Must know that it is not battery issue. It was the software update issue. They couldn’t find out the cause of problem. Some of those people actually got their battery changed.
